"The Birth of Tragedy" oil on cardboard 80*55(2023)

As you can recognize from its name the inspiration is coming from the famous book of Nietzsche called "The Birth of Tragedy Out of the Spirit of Music" in which Nietzsche declare and discuss the dichotomy between the Dionysian and the Apollonian understanding. The concept of the book is expose the acceptance of the life with all its meaningless situation and find a nihilistic way to embrace it with all pain it has. Dionysus as god of wine, he symbolises a mad understanding in which mind dance under the dark unknowing skies around uncertainty fire. Apollo as god of sun, he illuminate everything, he is a rational being which explain and industrialize what he sees, nothing is a mystery for him, it symbolises the lie of an explained world. On painting, you first see a scene which divided by two world, on left side we are seeing sculpture of Apollo with his harp and aristocrat wig which symbolize the enlighteners, he is not proud but sad about his lies. Behind him, you can find figures which symbolize rational look on world. If we go through right side surrealism appear immediately, horse turn to a centaur who play with a blue kite. Kite is also irrational with its color, it isn't seen when it flies, it is useless and meaningless. So we see an absurd big apple and flowers appeared from a corpse which cover face like surrealist contemporary painters. So totally naked Nietzsche(Dionysus) sits on a cube and while leans on a giant disembodied head, he think about all of this world in which mythology and absurdity involved each other with harmony on the edge of an abyss. Abyss symbolises the incompatible situation of the human, individual do everything to do not confront with this obvious nihilistic abyss. Human can work, love, run, discover, believe, fight, do or try everything to ignore the absurdity of its existence. But as Galileo said "And yet it moves" after being forced to recant his claims that the Earth moves around the Sun. We can also say that "it still here, next to us" giant abyss between us and the pure space of unknowing anything is one step further, doesn't matter the way how we ignore it.
